Mentorship

"Mentoring sits at the heart of successful training for all professionals. Mentors help trainees set realistic goals and avoid predictable mistakes while providing honest support and encouragement as they strive to achieve their professional goals. A good mentor turns experience into guidance, potential into progress, and students into safe, confident professionals."

- Mattie Klass, PhD Physiology, University of Arizona

At the TEAM Foundation, mentorship is a cornerstone of our mission to bridge the gap between education and access to care. We believe that developing confident, compassionate clinicians starts with meaningful guidance, real-world exposure, and strong professional relationships.
Our mentorship program connects Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students and aspiring healthcare professionals with experienced clinicians who are committed to investing in the next generation. Through this program, mentees gain insight beyond the classroom—learning not only clinical reasoning and patient care skills, but also the values of empathy, service, and community impact that define exceptional providers.
Mentorship is designed to be both structured and flexible. Participants engage in regular communication with their mentors, which may include one-on-one meetings, clinical discussions, shadowing opportunities, and involvement in community outreach initiatives. These experiences allow mentees to apply what they are learning in a meaningful way while building confidence in their skills and decision-making.
The benefits of mentorship extend beyond professional development. Mentees build lasting relationships, expand their networks, and gain a clearer sense of purpose as they navigate their path in physical therapy. Mentors, in turn, play a vital role in shaping the future of the profession by sharing their knowledge, experiences, and passion for service.
Through mentorship, we are not only supporting individual growth—we are strengthening our communities. By guiding students who are committed to serving others, we ensure that the impact of the TEAM Foundation continues far beyond the classroom, reaching the individuals and communities who need care the most.

Driven by passion

Our mentors are driven by a shared passion for service, growth, and giving back to the profession that shaped them. They invest their time not just to teach, but to inspire—guiding the next generation of clinicians to lead with compassion, confidence, and purpose.
